Private Pilot Certificate

hour? Earning your private pilot certificate would enable you to spend

Prerequisite: To complete
your first solo you must be 16 years of age and in good physical
condition.
A physical exam by a FAA examiner is required.
Duration: A minimum of 40
hours flight time is required to earn your Private Pilot Certificate.
Twenty
hours with an instructor and twenty hours without an instructor.
Therefore, the amount of
time it takes to earn your certificate varies by individual.
Program:
A. A written test is required
prior to a check ride. The test consists of approximately 60
multiple choice questions. To pass the exam your score must be at least
70%. Monroe Aviation
offers FAA testing at our facility. Call Monroe Aviation at 734-384-9616
or you can schedule through
Laser Grade, at 800-211-2753 to schedule a test. The cost for each test
taken is $70.00.
B. The final part of your FAA exam is a
check ride. The test consists of 2 parts. An oral test
on the ground will last for about 1 to 2 hours. The test covers many
aspects of flying such as:
aircraft systems, normal & emergency procedures, radio procedures,
flight planning and
airspace classification. The second part of the program will test your
practical skills in the air.
This phase will also last about 1 to 2 hours depending on your skill
level and examiner.
End Result: After
completing your 40 hours of instruction and passing the FAA examiners
oral, written, and practical tests you will earn your Private Pilot
Certificate. This certificate enables you
to fly under single engine land for non-commercial use. Night flight
rating is also included.
Financial Information: Average cost incurred to earn your private pilot certificate ranges from
$3,000 to $4,000. The upper value represents more than 40 hours of
flight time. In addition,
the price of aircraft rental varies by type and the flight schools price
per hour for the plane. |

Instrument Rating |
Prerequisite: Private Pilot
Certificate, 50 hours of cross country flight time
Duration: Minimum of 40
hours, actual or simulated, instrument time. To include, at least 15
hours of instrument training from an authorized instructor, a
cross-country of
at least 250 nautical miles, and 3 hours in preparation for the check
ride by an
authorized instructor.
Financial Implication:
Approximately $3500 -$4,000. |

Flight Review
(Bi-Annual) |
| The Bi-Annual Flight Review is due every 2 years. The review can be
completed with a Certified Flight Instructor. The minimum is one hour of
ground and one hour of flight training. For some pilots, the amount of
time required may be more than the minimum requirement. Call Monroe

High Performance Endorsement |
Do you have the desire to soar to your destination
even faster through the sky? High performance aircraft, over 200hp,
allow you to gain better speed, climb rate, payload and range.
Therefore, a high performance check ride is required in order to
prepare you for the difference in aircraft performance.
Prerequisite: Valid Private
Pilot Certificate
Duration: About 5 hours
End Result: A high
performance rating allowing you to fly single engine land aircraft
over 200hp and more, variable pitch propeller and retractable gear.
Financial Implications: Approximately $400.00 |

Commercial Rating |
Turn your hobby into $$$$....earn your commercial rating. Monroe
Aviation Instructors are qualified
to train students to earn a commercial rating.
Prerequisite: Valid Private
Pilot Certificate, 250 hours flight time SPIC, To include: 50 hours
cross country flight, 10 hours of instrument training, 10 hours of
training in your aircraft
with retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable pitch
propeller, one cross country flight
of at least 2 hours/ more than 100 nautical miles in day VFR conditions,
and one flight with the
exact same requirements in night conditions. One cross country flight of
greater than 300 nautical
miles with landings at 3 points, one of which is greater than 250
nautical miles from the departure
point. 5 hours of night VFR flight with 10 take offs and landings.
Duration: No time
requirement, approximately 10 hours of dual
End Result: Earn Commercial
Rating, allowing you to receive compensation for
flights within the FAA guidelines
Financial Implications: Approximately $2000 |
